BOOKING A SHOW AT REAL ART TACOMA

(Please Read)

To book a show at Real Art Tacoma we ask you follow these guidelines listed below.

Please Email answering all questions below to Booking@realarttacoma.com

  • Dates or date you are interested in booking. (Please keep in mind that we are USUALLY booked out 90 days in advance and sometimes further for available Fridays and Saturdays so even if you see it “available” on our event calendar that doesn’t mean it is available, the further out your wanting the more confidently we can get you that date )

  • Your band info, This includes a short pitch about your band and social media links.

  • Links to your music via YouTube, Sound Cloud, Bandcamp, etc.

  • What type of draw does your act have in the Pierce County area? (you can find this by taking your shows attendances and dividing it by how many acts their were! then you just do the average from all shows!)

  • Who have you played with before?

  • What genre of music do you consider yourself? or an FFO (For Fans Of) this will help us find good associated acts to put with you.

  • Why you are wanting to play an All Ages Venue?. We prioritize booking youth acts (under 21) for our venue as their are not many places that they can play this means you may end up playing with high school or college students

(We will get back to you as soon as we can so we ask you be patient as we review the many inquiries we receive to book a show here at Real Art Tacoma.)

 Representation & Diversity

When we are booking we like to elevate youth artists especially from underrepresented and marginalized groups including but not limited to artists of color, womxn, lgbtq+ artists, etc.

Defining "local"

When we discuss locals we prefer to bookend acts from in town Tacoma to reign in the home crowd. There is a meme going around that Seattle is an hour away from Seattle.

It's a funny joke but traffic does affect us heavily. As a result we have "micro-scenes" throughout western Washington. Even in Seattle proper many don't want to venture out of their own neighborhood let alone 45 minutes to an hour south. We think it would serve the bill and the crowd the best to have a fair balance of in town locals and support from the surrounding PNW.

Remodel & income

As an FYI, We're remodeling currently adding a cafe and barber shop into the mix to help keep overhead costs low. Both are NOW operational! Opened July 2020.

Otherwise, we are all ages and 100% drug and alcohol free for Real Art Presents events. Doors are our (you+us) source of income at the moment. Merch sales are 100% to artist. If this is a rental or third party promotion we have different terms and agreements to be arranged by our lease-holders. If you’d like to rent the space or affiliated with the Real Art Tacoma volunteer staff, please indicate that in the subject. Real Art Presents events are primarily negotiated between volunteer staff and artists directly. If you are a professional promoter, tour manager, label representative please indicate who you represent in the subject.

CONFIRMING A SHOW

When you confirm a show with us, you will be provided with, and/or agree upon, the following information:

*The date of your show.

*The lineup and billing order. (what bands play when)

*The pre-sale ticket price and info and the day of show door price.

*Load-in and show times as well as who is managing the show that night.

*payout agreement other details concerning show.

*Venue location and policies.

Additionally, some useful information you may be asked to provide for us will be:

*Contact names and phone numbers for you and/or your band members.

*How many people are in your band?

*A stage plot (a graphic representation of how your band members and their instruments will be placed on stage) here’s a great free tool for creating these:

STAGE PLOT DESIGNER LINK

*Any special arrangements you may need for your set (ie. “We have a wireless mic and/or in-ear-monitor system”or “we’re sharing a drum kit with the opening band” or “we are bringing our own lighting rig”.

*For hip hop shows please make sure you have a laptop for your songs or a DJ to play them for you (we do not provide any of these things). The promoter for your show may have secured a DJ to spin for all of the acts but if you have not confirmed this with the promoter than do not assume that will be the case.

*If you are a DJ and your setup does not have XLR or ¼” outputs please ensure that you bring whatever adapters you need to interface to those connector types. If you're not sure please ask.

A show is NOT considered confirmed until these details have been sorted out and agreed upon! If you are unclear about any of the terms set for the show, or are unclear about your confirmation status, please contact our bookers at booking@realarttacoma.com or your point of contact for your show and we can help sort this all out.

Confirmation & Advancing
As we confirm groups, as a venue, we like to send out the advance with all of the pertinent info for promo and day of show ie. tech, load in, rough set times,e-settlement details, promotion plan etc to all parties in a single email thread so everyone is seeing the same information. Please send links and emails when you have locals on board.

We consider locals confirmed once the venue and the agency/artists all have touched base and are on the same email thread. All parties involved reserve the right to review and approve each act (agency, artist, venue). Once the line up and set times are confirmed we also coordinate local announce with national announcements. We prefer to announce first as we tend to have a bigger splash with local subscribers of 5000+ on social media sites and mailing lists.

*WE ASK EVERYONE WHO PERFORMS AT OUR VENUE TO PROMOTE AS MUCH AS THEY CAN ON ALL SOCIAL MEDIA AND FACEBOOK EVENT PAGES AND PROMOTE FLIERS AND HANDBILLS IF AVAILABLE.
